AUGUST 25th , 2016 – The recent actions of Ethiopian olympic athlete Feyisa Lilesa when winning the silver medal for his marathon performance at Rio Olympics has strengthened the movement for social liberation and democracy in his home country. Here in Auckland New Zealand, the Ethiopian community organised a protest to send a message to world leaders. People were claiming for justice, the end of human rights violation, the end of government’s crackdown on political dissent and unity amongst all Ethiopian ethnicities.The protesters hope that their voice will be heard and western countries will cease supporting the current government.
